A Kindergarten Information meeting is held in early February for parents interested in Fall enrollment. At this meeting we provide information about our program, curriculum, and schedule, as well as the application and assessment process. You are welcome to bring your child to this session! Once your application has been received, we will contact you to schedule a screening appointment for your child. Our first round of assessments is held on a Saturday in mid February. If you apply after the February screening day, an independent screening appointment will be scheduled. The assessment includes administration of the Brigance Early Childhood Screen II for Kindergarten, published by Curriculum Associates, Inc. This instrument provides age-specific, basic assessment of language, motor, self-help, social-emotional and cognitive skills. The areas assessed are those that early childhood research, teacher input, and field-testing have identified as having the greatest predictive validity for success in Kindergarten. You will be notified of your child’s status within one week of completion of the assessment.
